Orbis Oy is developing new cabling and connectivity solutions for the 5G mobile network and smart cities. The ongoing pilot projects focus on smart poles that are significantly different from the traditional base station masts.

In this article, we try to summarize the most important things to remember when talking about smart poles.

LuxTurrim5G ecosystem is developing its smart pole concept towards commercialization within two years. The joint effort of several companies and research institutions is proceeding well, and in May 2020 a pilot route of 15 smart poles will be completed in Kera, Espoo. Orbis Oy is responsible for the cabling, connections and assembly of the poles, which means active spring for the Orbis crew.

Smart pole pilot in Tampere

Hiedanranta is a future district of Tampere city in Finland, where new ideas, experiments and urban culture will flourish. Sustainable and intelligent solutions will make life easier for the future 25 000 residents and 10 000 employees of the area. During the summer 2019, in cooperation with Tehomet Oy and DNA Oyj, Orbis Oy will participate in a Smart Pole pilot project in Hiedanranta.
